About us
Therapy Haven was founded by Niamh Clarke and Penny Houghton in 2025 to provide thoughtful, evidence-based psychotherapeutic support for children, adolescents, adults, and families. Together, we offer a calm, steady, and welcoming space where clients can explore what’s happening in their lives and begin to build practical tools for coping and growth.
We are fully accredited psychotherapists, both holding Master’s degrees in Child and Adolescent psychotherapy, and members of the IACP, working in line with its code of ethics. Our practice is grounded in ongoing professional development and regular clinical supervision to ensure a high standard of care for every client who walks through our door.
Our work is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing from neuroscience and a range of evidence-based approaches including CBT, play therapy, creative therapies, sand tray, EMDR, and Traumaplay. Sessions are always shaped around the individual – their pace, their goals, and what feels most helpful in the moment. Therapy should feel safe and predictable, but also warm, collaborative, and human. Creativity, curiosity, and sometimes even gentle humour are part of that process.
We support clients across a broad range of presentations, including anxiety, OCD, low mood, grief and bereavement, attachment-related challenges, emotional regulation difficulties, self-esteem, school distress, and the impact of trauma, separation, or divorce. Our practice is neuro-affirming, and we regularly work with autistic clients, ADHDers, and those with dyslexia or dyspraxia, recognising and valuing each person’s unique way of experiencing the world.
For children and adolescents, we work closely with parents and carers where appropriate, offering guidance and support while keeping the young person’s wellbeing at the centre of the work.
You may also meet our therapy dogs, Willow the Labrador and Toby the Labradoodle, who sometimes join sessions and bring a sense of playfulness and comfort for all ages.
We look forward to welcoming you!
